“Don’t pitch, give yourself some opportunity to be surprised.” — Corina Kuiper, Venture Expert
Startup of The Week — BioFab!
A startup that plans to save thousands of lives and improve the life quality for thousands more becomes our Startup of The Week — congratulations BioFab! In a nutshell, BioFab bioprints human organs. You read it right. While average waiting line for a new organ is 3.5 years, BioFab delivers a new organ within two months from the moment you order it!
“In a nutshell, BioFab 3D bioprints human organs.”
Cesar Loo Gil (Founder & CEO) & Ricardo Garcia developed a specific 3D bioprinter that makes this innovation possible. They came to The Netherlands from Peru together with their family to continue developing BioFab at #BIFINCS16. Cesar and Ricardo, wonderful work! We wish you success and lots of progress with your invention! Read the full story on BioFab here.
As you know by now, we have two masterclasses every week. And this week? It was all about getting deep into customer’s minds — Customer Development and Revenue Streams. How do you develop your custom base? How do you maintain them afterwards? How about money? Will you make any, and if so, when or how? Our startups took up the challenge to answer these questions, and came up with some interesting solutions. Here are some of them:
“Every day I learn something new. I changed a lot.” — Werner Ulbts, Krasue
3. TopologX questioned whether the customers were actually ready to pay for the metal powders. The founder arranged a meetings to see how others work in the industry.
4. After the Revenue Streams masterclass, BioFab made a decision to focus mostly on selling organs instead of selling 3D bioprinters.
“It’s a tough job.” Pol Knops, Innovation Concepts
5. Innovation Concepts focused on Customer Development this week. “I’ve noticed that the companies that are family owned seem to be more focused on long-term outcomes, so that was an interesting finding for startup direction”, says Pol during his presentation.
We recommend you to read…
Going hand-in-hand with this week’s masterclasses about customer development and revenue streams is a book that every entrepreneur should absolutely read!
